Metro Communications Expands Sullivan Operations to Meet Rising Fiber Internet Demand Across Illinois

SULLIVAN, IL, December 6, 2024 - Metro Communications expands Sullivan operations to accommodate growing demand for high-speed residential and commercial fiber-optic internet services.

The company is constructing a new 25,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its current headquarters at 8 South Washington Street. This expansion will create additional space for support staff and further strengthen Metro Communications' flagship brand, Conxxus. As a leading provider of fiber-optic internet in central Illinois, Conxxus continues to extend its network footprint throughout the Midwest.

The project officially commenced on December 2, 2024, with the removal of several structures to make way for the new building.

"I am incredibly proud of the work our team has accomplished over the years," said Zak Horn, CEO and Founder of Metro Communications. "This expansion underscores our commitment to bringing more jobs to Sullivan and communities across Illinois, while continuing to deliver cutting-edge fiber-optic internet services."

In 2024 alone, Conxxus more than doubled the number of homes and businesses connected to its fiber-optic network, reaching over 100 communities. Anticipating continued growth and rising demand for reliable, high-speed internet, Metro Communications is increasing its investment in Sullivan and other areas of Illinois.

Metro Communications acquired Conxxus in 2016, integrating the fiber-optic provider into its operations. Since then, the company has invested millions of dollars to expand Conxxus' reach into rural Illinois communities, bringing advanced internet services to underserved areas while creating jobs statewide.

Founded in 2000, Metro Communications provides innovative, sustainable fiber-optic infrastructure across Illinois. Its Conxxus brand now serves thousands of homes and businesses throughout the Midwest, employing over 240 Illinois residents. By delivering reliable, high-speed internet to rural communities, Metro Communications continues to enhance the quality of life across the region.
